SILVER SPRING, MD — Six new eating spots have joined the upcoming Commas food hall on the third floor of the Ellsworth Place shopping center in downtown Silver Spring.
According to Trey Culpepper, managing director of operations at mall owner GBT Realty, tenants are expected to start opening in mid-summer, with a full grand opening scheduled for September.
“We’ve been working hard to create an international dining experience like no other,” Culpepper said in a news release. “Silver Spring is consistently named one of the nation’s most ethnically diverse cities, and Commas is a celebration of this diversity. In this space, you can travel from continent to continent with every bite.”
The six new dining establishments joining the previously announced tenants Tokoa Cheesesteaks, DMV Empanadas, and J&J Mex-Taqueria are:
- 6 Skewers: Offering a fresh take on authentic Persian dishes, focusing on skewered dishes made with the finest Persian ingredients.
- The Champs Kitchen: Operated by Silver Spring resident Keyerra Pitts, this eatery will serve Caribbean flavors and classic dishes with all-star recipes and finger-licking sauces.
- Claude Have Mercy: Operated by Claudius Kpakima, a first-generation American with parents from Sierra Leone, this restaurant will offer a new take on seafood, including shrimp burgers, seafood hot dogs, and seafood pizza.
- Momo Hub: This second location of the Clarksville-based restaurant will bring the Nepalese experience to Commas, serving authentic Nepalese dumplings and traditional cuisine.
- Nim Ali: Offering traditional Guatemalan street food flavors, including the 12″ Shuko Chingon made with beef, ham, bacon, al pastor, steak, chorizo, cilantro aioli, and spicy picamas, as well as other snacks and plates.
- Café Antigua by Nim Ali: Activating the mornings with coffee and bakery items, Café Antigua will offer additional items to fulfill all-day cravings.
GBT Realty has hired West Palm Beach, Fla.-based FIRETEN Hospitality, which owns and operates food halls and hospitality venues nationwide, including Le Fantome in College Park, to operate and activate Commas.
The firms are seeking more food concepts to fill the last two spots in the dining mix.
Brentwood, Tennessee-based GBT Realty acquired Ellsworth Place from its previous owner, Petri Richardson Ventures, in 2018.
