KYLE, TEXAS (October 25, 2024) – Sprouts Farmers Market, one of the fastest growing retailers in the country, is breaking ground seven miles south of Austin’s city limits in Kyle, Texas to meet the grocery needs of the nation’s second fastest growing city with a population more than 50,000. The community is invited to attend the groundbreaking ceremony that will take place on site Wednesday, October 30th at 11:00 AM CST.
Sprouts is the anchor tenant of the Shops at the Brick and Mortar District, a four-building, ground-up retail development on 4.77-acres located at the northwest corner of Kohlers Crossing and FM 1626. GBT Realty Corporation, a national commercial development and investment company based in Tennessee, is developing this retail offering within the Brick and Mortar District at Plum Creek adjacent to Heroes Memorial Park. Retail space includes a 23,256-square-foot Sprouts Farmers Market and three retail buildings totaling 18,325 square feet.
“GBT is thrilled to break ground on our twelfth Sprouts anchored development and our seventh in the state of Texas. It has been a truly wonderful experience working in partnership with the City of Kyle and Sprouts Farmer’s Market to bring the next phase of the Brick and Mortar District at Plum Creek to life,” said Jeffrey Pape, GBT Managing Director. “The leadership in Kyle has worked hard to bring the highest quality developments to the city, and it’s an honor to be part of the team.”
“We are excited to welcome Sprouts Farmers Market and new retail shops into this growing area,” said Travis Mitchell, the City of Kyle Mayor. “Sprouts shares our goal of offering unique experiences to promote health and well-being and the Shops at the Brick and Mortar District will advance our vision of creating walkable shops in the city of Kyle.”
The Brick and Mortar District is a 138-acre regional hub attracting people and employers from South Austin to North San Antionio due to its proximity to I-35. The district located in the master-planned community of Plum Creek launched its initial phase in 2022 and includes more than 2,500 homes as well as retail, office and park space.
“We are thrilled to bring a wide selection of quality products that cater to a healthy lifestyle to the Kyle community,” said David McGlinchey, chief strategy officer of Sprouts. “Sprouts offers fresh seasonal produce, custom-cut meats, vitamins and supplements, ready-to-eat meals, dietary options such as gluten-free or paleo and thousands of other natural, organic, non-GMO, vegan and plant-based products. We can’t wait for our Kyle neighbors to see what’s in store.”
The healthy grocer’s new Kyle location plans to bring 80 full- and part-time career opportunities to the area. Sprouts’ healthy approach to grocery shopping means team members share a passion for fresh, natural and organic products which are offered throughout the store.
Sprouts is designed by BRR Architecture. The retail shops are designed by MJM Architects. The site includes decorative sidewalks and enhanced landscaping to complement the inviting nature of the district.
Houston-based Arch-Con® Corporation is the general contractor for the retail development. This marks Arch-Con’s fifth Sprouts to build for this specialty grocer.
“It has been a pleasure to build for Sprouts in multiple locations in Texas as well as Oklahoma,” Arch-Con Senior Vice President Marc MacConnell said. “Sprouts has such a friendly and fresh take on grocery shopping, and we are happy to be a small part of their growth.”
